In a rare and unexpected move, Sephora is having a new sale called "Beauty Insider Appreciation Event" that starts today, Friday August 24, for Rouge customers. Keep reading for all the info about the sale, my French beauty purchase recommendations, and my personal wish list!

It's the first time Sephora has a storewide sale in August, and the rules are a little different from the typical VIB sales (by the way, nobody knows if the usual November VIB sale will also happen, or if this one replaces it). Here are the sale details depending on your level in the Beauty Insider scale, Sephora's loyalty program:

- Rouge customers get 20% off from 8/24 to 9/3 with code YESROUGE
- VIBs get 15% off from 8/30 to 9/3 with code YESVIB
- BIs get 10% off from 8/30 to 9/3 with code YESINSIDER (you can sign up to become a Beauty Insider at any time)

An important limitation this time: you can only use the code to make an online order ONCE during the sale! However, you can shop in store and receive your discount as many times as you want within your dates (bring the card you received in the mail, the email, or just mention the sale at the register).

There are also a few notable exclusions: you can't use your discount on the Dyson hairdryer, and you are limited to 3 products from Drunk Elephant and 3 from Tatcha per transaction.

You can look at past Sephora shopping guides for more ideas, I tried to update my list with some newer products. Here are my picks if you want to treat yourself to some French beauty goodness:

- Lancôme Tonique Confort: I discovered this toner recently and it blew my mind - I know it sounds over-the-top but it's true! Check out my review to read why. I totally recommend it to people with dry or dehydrated skin!

- YSL Volupté Liquid Color Balm: this liquid lip color is so, so good. It's a lot more pigmented than you'd expect from something called "balm" and it's very comfortable. Look at my review for more info.

- Dior Backstage Eyeshadow Palette in Cool: this is the perfect starter or companion palette with cool, mauve-y undertones throughout. The mattes are some of the best I've tried recently. Here's my review for details.

- Lancôme Monsieur Big Waterproof mascara: I loved the original Monsieur Big, and the recently released waterproof version does not disappoint! It makes my lashes look great and it's not too hard to remove, although it stays put perfectly throughout the day.

- YSL Volupté Tint-in-Balm: this sheer glossy lipstick / lipbalm hybrid is juicy and incredibly comfortable to wear. If you pick one of the bolder or deeper shades, it also packs a good amount of pigment! Take a look at my review for photos and more.

- YSL Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lipstick: I know, it's the third lippie from YSL in this list! What can I say, the brand makes fantastic lip products. This one is hands down my favorite liquid matte lipstick ever. Check out my review for all the details.

- Lancôme L'Absolu Lacquer: I almost included my beloved Matte Shaker in this list, but I replaced it with this newer launch. If you like the idea of a glossy, long-wearing liquid lipstick, this is for you. Read all about it in my recent review.

- Klorane Dry Shampoo: I've tried a ton of dry shampoos, but this is still my favorite. Check out this post to see which of the 3 versions is best for you.

- L'Occitane Verbena Shower Gel: I showed you my summer cooling products from L'Occitane's Verbena line just a couple weeks ago, and it reminded me how much I love this body wash. The citrusy scent is so uplifting!

- Guerlain Terracotta Light: I think you could pick any version of Guerlain's iconic Terracotta bronzer and be super happy about it. But I find this year's edition with rays of different colors particularly flattering. My review has all the info about the different shades available.

I'm all about the lipsticks, for a change - not! Here's what I'm considering purchasing during the sale:

- Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm: because I'm a big fan of the classic Givenchy Le Rouge lipsticks, and the pink leather on this case looks so pretty! The pink balm has been around for a while, but Givenchy has just released some new shades. I'd be curious to compare it to the Dior Lip Glow.

- Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Concealer: I'm not happy at all with the concealer I have right now (Urban Decay Naked Skin, I know it's popular but I hate it...), and I thought I found my HG with the Kat Von D one... but nah I'm not going to support her brand now! I've heard good things about this concealer so I want to give it a try. I need good coverage and a moist texture that doesn't dry out my undereyes!

- IGK Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel: fun fact, I received a travel-size of this product in a Sephora Play box a while back, and I hated it. Then I tried it again and thought it was fantastic! Here's the trick: this is NOT a hair gel, this is a leave-in styling cream that works great on my wavy hair that I always let air dry.

- Urban Decay Lo-Fi Lip Mousse: being a die-hard lipstick lover, I'm always curious when new and intriguing lip formulas come to the market. The swatches and reviews I've seen so far make me think that this could be the perfect bold yet casual lip stain for me, and I want it either in a red or a deep nude shade.

- Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: I have super dry lips so I like to try all the most hydrating balms out there. This one was launched many years ago but I still haven't tested it! To be honest I was hoping to grab one of the limited edition flavors that were just released, but it looks like they're already sold out.

- YSL Volupté Tint-in-Balm: that's me taking my own advice! I really love the shade of Tint-in-Balm that I own, but it's a blue-based fuchsia and I want a warm toned color too. I'm planning to buy this in 09 Tempt Me Pink, which swatches as a beautiful coral.

- Guerlain KissKiss Creamy Satin Finish Lipstick: where did this come from? I stumbled upon it while browsing Sephora's website, but I never heard about this new release before! I don't know if it's part of a fall collection or why it comes in this new red tube. Oh well, a new Guerlain lipstick is always worth trying.

- Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palettes in Prism and Punked: a cool eyeshadow lover's dream! Prism has some fun glittery layering shades paired with sultry purples and grays, while Punked is the perfect moody combination of mauves, grays and browns. The two would work so well together, or paired with my Dior Backstage Cool palette!

- YSL Tatouage Couture Metallics: the best liquid lipstick I just recommended to you now comes in a metallic version. I'm intrigued, can it be as good as the original?

- Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette: since I love the eyeshadow palette from the Backstage collection, I'm tempted to try this face palette full of shimmery colors. Worth noting, $45 is actually a good price for four Dior cheek colors, considering their blush and highlighter singles retail for $40+!

- Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge x Camila Coelho: this new lipstick will launch on Monday, 8/24 online, which is why I'll wait until then to place my one and only online order during the sale. I love the red tube (every single French brand is releasing lipsticks in red tubes these days!) and the lip shaped stick!

If you are in the US or Canada, are you going to shop this sale? What's in your wish list?
