bronzer blush gloss lipstick highlighter

Ah, summer in San Diego... warm evenings under the palm trees sipping a glass of rosé, long strolls on the boardwalk, late afternoon trips to the beach... I'm gonna leave out the traffic jams, stingrays and frigid ocean water because, you know, we all like to pretend that Southern California is paradise. Anyways, summer is upon us and so is coral lipstick and peachy blush. I went through my makeup collection and pulled out a few favorites for the season. Keep reading for my summer beauty top picks!

A few of these items are new or recently launched, but most are products that I have been loving for a few years. You'll notice that I have an obsession for peach and coral, especially orange-hued blush! My typical summer makeup look is a sheer base, very little on the eyes besides mascara, a peachy flush on the cheeks or a bit of bronzer, a soft and juicy coral lip, and a touch of highlighter for a subtle glow. It's rather natural and as far from the "Instagram look" as any makeup can possibly be. Here are 10 of the products I know I'll be reaching for all summer:

nars pixi fenty YSL MAC Lancome Chanel Surratt theBalm Guerlain

Nars Liquid Blush in Luster: one of my favorite products of 2017, this peachy liquid blush is a lot more pigmented than you would expect! I only need a micro droplet on each cheek for a gorgeous peachy flush. The texture disappears on the skin to look completely natural, and it plays well on top of my foundations. I really, really love this blush!

- Fenty Beauty Island Bling in Mamacita/Tini Kini: this metallic/glittery liquid eyeshadow duo is perfect for summer nights looks. It's sold out, but you can create something similar with the Pixi Fairy Lights or the Stila Glitter & Glow eyeshadows. With the Fairy Lights, I'd go for Cristalline and RoseGold for something very similar to the Fenty duo.

MAC Blot Powder Pressed: I just mentioned this staple of my summer makeup bag in a recent post. This is hands down the best mattifying powder I've tried! The pressed version is easy to carry around to touch up during the day and erase any unwanted shine.

Pixi Glow-y Glossamer Highlighter Duo: Pixi Beauty sent me a PR package recently and this duo in Delicate Dew is my absolute favorite product in the box! This duo has a pinkish champagne and a bronzy shade, that I can both apply very lightly for a subtle highlight or build for that glowing metallic finish that looks almost wet. Both shades are super soft and they don't have larger chunks of glitter so they look very even and soft on the skin.

Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush in Peau de Pêche: the powder blushes by Surratt Beauty are so finely milled they feel like clouds. Peau de Pêche is the perfect peach shade for summer: it doesn't pull pink or coral, it's a true soft orange color. The thin texture blends onto the skin beautifully for a very natural finish.

- YSL Glossy Stain Pop Water edition: this is now a long-time favorite of mine! The shade I love the most, Eau de Corail, doesn't seem to be available anymore but I can recommend any of the light shades. This long-wearing gloss is sheer but adds a nice touch of color and remains glossy for a very long time, while being super comfortable. Check out my original review for more details.

Lancôme Prismatic Plump Lip Gloss in Passion Glow: sparkly lips are a big trend this summer and this gloss by one of my favorite brands is the toned down, kind of grown up, wearable version. The shimmer is beautiful but not too overwhelming so the lips look juicy, not frosty. See my recent review for more photos.

Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Blush in Corail Naturel: obviously I love a natural peachy coral cheek in the summer, and this lip/cheek liquid looks absolutely gorgeous on the skin. It's also a very pretty soft matte lipstick that's surprisingly comfortable. Check my review for all the info.

Guerlain Terracotta Light Powder in Clair Rosé: I've tried almost all the new bronzers released this summer and this is my absolute favorite. It looks very natural, it's buildable, and it gives me that healthy tan I'm looking for without effort and with almost zero risk of overdoing it. I know it swatches very poorly, but it's really beautiful on the face! Review is here for more details and a look at the other 5 shades available.

- theBalm Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush: this warm rosy beige with a hint of golden shimmer is super flattering on the cheeks for a sophisticated sunkissed look. I reviewed it back when I first bought it, take a look for more info.
