My 10 favorite lip colors for summer - 10 best high-end lipsticks and lipglosses

Because sometimes a little bit of luxury feels good on the lips, I want to show you my top 10 high-end lip colors for the summer, after sharing my top 10 drugstore lippies last week. Whether you prefer to shop at the department store, want something classy for a special occasion, need to reward yourself for sticking to your workout routine or are in a cupcake withdrawal crisis, there's always a good reason to indulge in a high-end lip color. Or is it just me??

As usual with my Summer Essentials series, most of these lippies are not newly launched products, but they're the ones I enjoyed wearing last summer and launched an archaeological campaign to dig out of my stash before May ended. You might notice a slight obsession for coral... I guess I'm more daring with cheap, affordable lipsticks, trying shades out of my comfort zone, but if I'm going to splurge on a pricey lippie, I'll go with my safest option! All swatches at the bottom.

My 10 favorite lip colors for summer - 10 best high-end lipsticks and lipglosses

1- Dior Addict Fluid Stick in 575 Wonderland: one day I want to grant this product the Beaumiroir D'Or of the most stupid name. Fluid Stick, really? Anyways, this one is actually a bit tricky: it's a drop dead gorgeous neon coral pink that screams summer pool party, BUT, because it's so opaque, vibrant, and in a liquid form, it's a little hard to achieve perfect application. Still think it's worth it for the fun shade.

2- Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color SPF12 in 1 Guava: I love this creamy, fully opaque lipstick in this pretty and bold pink coral shade. It's very comfortable and long-wearing on my lips. You can read my full review for more details.

3- MAC Cremesheen Glass: this is my favorite gloss formula from MAC and a staple during the summer. I like that it's creamy, not too sticky and looks milky. The shade pictured here is an old LE called Meteoric, for something similar, look into currently available shades called Richer, Lusher or Imperial Light. You can check out my full review of Meteoric

4- Lancôme Shine Lover in 140 Corail Lover: of course! If you've been around for just a few months you know that I fell hard for Lancôme's latest lipstick innovation. The Shine Lover is weightless, vibrant, shiny and long-wearing, and it comes in beautiful saturated colors like this red coral. Read my posts about Corail Lover and French Sourire for lip swatches and a full review of the formula.

5- Yves Saint Laurent Pop Water Glossy Stain in 203 Eau de Corail: this is a brand new product in my lippie collection but I'm already hooked. Unlike the classic Glossy Stains, this summer's Pop Water edition is not drying at all, it even feels moisturizing. It stays glossy for ages and brings a nice pop of sheer color. I'll review it soon!

6- Clinique Chubby Stick in 04 Mega Melon: the perfect easy-going balmy color. On me it looks like a sheer peachy nude, easy to pair with pretty much anything and nicely moisturizing.

7- Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm: summer wouldn't be summer with the gloss in a squeeze tube! The Clarins version is comfortable and packs a ton of color and/or shimmer depending on the shade. The tube has been re-vamped and now looks longer, so I'm not sure he shade I use, #04 is still the same.

8- Lancôme Lip Lover in 336 Orange Manège: another great lip product by Lancôme. This lightweight balm gloss is comfortable and hydrating. Orange Manège is a bright coral pink with subtle golden shimmer. Beautiful for shiny summer lips.

9- Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF15 in Sunset and Bonfire: yes, they're old-school, sticky glosses. But these 2 shades, bronzy Sunset and shimmery warm rose Bonfire are such quintessential summer colors! The first one is the perfect complement to a beach goddess bronzed look, while the second inspires me to get frozen strawberry margaritas...

10- Lancôme Juicy Tube: the most popular squeeze-tube gloss has been around for ages and still going strong! Depending on the shade, they can be mostly clear with strong shimmer, like Miracle pictured here, or be more pigmented.

  3. I also find the new YSL Water Pop Glossy Stain less drying than the old formula! Never thought about how weird the Dior Fluid Stick name sounds before... but you're right. Really? Haha

    Great picks!
