Fall makeup collections are usually my favorite launches of the year. I'm all about rich hues and autumnal colors! Will the 2018 releases mark the collective memory of the beauty community or are they forgettable this time? Keep reading to see the new collections from Dior, Lancôme, YSL and Chanel!

DIOR EN DIABLE

Dior's 2018 fall collection is very Halloween appropriate, with its devilish inspiration. Here's a short video of Peter Philips, the brand's creative director, explaining how he created the look:

This collection mixes smokey colors for the eyes with pops of oranges and warm autumnal hues. Here's what it includes:

- Two new 5 Couleurs eyshadow palettes: Volcanic, a combination of smokey, earthy tones and a bright orange, and Devilish, a more classic colorful mix of golds, reds, pinks and bronzes.
- Four new shades of the Rouge Dior lipstick: light pink Devilish Nude, shimmering orange On Fire, matte red 666 Matte Kiss, deep bordeaux Rouge En Diable.
- One shade of blush in the new Rouge Blush formula that I recently reviewed: Stand Out, a shimmering orange.
- Two new shades of Rouge Dior Liquid Lipstick: Red Lava, a shimmering pink red, and Copper Lava, a shimmering orange that appears to be a dior.com exclusive.
- Five new Dior Vernis nail lacquers: Hot, a shimmering orange, Rouge en Diable, a bordeaux cream, Trigger, a cool shimmering mauve, plus two that are only on dior.com, Devilish Cute, a pale pink and Sulphurous, a stunning shimmering yellow.

Dior's holiday 2018 makeup collection is also starting to pop up at retailers! You can take a look at the two new eyeshadow quints, new highlighter, and gorgeous lipstick set.

LANCOME x PROENZA SCHOULER

I mentioned this collaboration between Lancôme and fashion brand Proenza Schouler in my review of the kajal eyeliner, now let's take a look at the rest of the offering. The whole collection comes in colorful, happy packaging with lots of bright pink. I don't know enough about Proenza Schouler to tell you if it is at all reminiscent of the brand's style, but I would expect so! Here's what this collection includes:

- Two 10-pan Chroma Eyeshadow Palettes: Warm with warm neutrals, a deep pink and a navy, and Cold with pinks, beiges, blues and a pop of coral.
- An intriguing new lipstick duo called Lip Kajal, with a pointy creamy lip crayon on one side and a gloss on the other. Comes in four shades: Pink Chroma, Bold Red, Orange Arty and Pure Brown (I don't have a pic of this one).
- The Eye Kajal that I already reviewed. Besides Minimal Brown that I bought, it comes in Black Chroma, Geometric Gray, and a very appealing teal called Cubic Blue.
- A new, limited edition shade of the Monsieur Big mascara (which I absolutely love!) in a burgundy hue that I think would make my green eyes pop!
- Limited edition L'Absolu Rouge Chroma Lipstick in four shades: Minimal Red, Graphic Orange, Abstract Burgundy and Pure Nude.
- Four new shades of Le Vernis In Love nail lacquer: Smoky Art, Pure Nude, Space Grey and Pink Chroma (not pictured above).
- Three new shades of my beloved Matte Shaker lipstick, which are only available on Lancome's website at this time: Orange Arty, Round Purple, Minimal Ochre.

YSL YCONIC

This fall YSL is all about the purple, and the new wide Y design on their packaging that they started to use for their new highlighters (my review) and blushes. For some reason it's always difficult to track down all the seasonal products that YSL France lists as part of the new collections, so I wasn't able to find the lipstick and nail lacquer you see above in the US. But here's what I did find:

- The Yconic Purple eyeshadow palette, with warm neutrals paired with a lilac and a white.
- The nail lacquer in Mauve Alternatif, a muted medium purple with cool gray undertones.
- A set of a rather odd product called Couture Chalks, four crayons that are supposed to be for eyes, lips and cheeks.

CHANEL LE MAT

Chanel is all about the matte neutrals this fall/winter, with new matte shades for the eyes, lips and nails (I don't have individual pictures of each product, click on the links below to see them on Chanel's website):

- The 4 Ombres eyeshadow quad in Clair-Obscur, a very neutral selection of brown mattes for a subtle sculpted look.
-  The jumbo lip pencil Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur Mat (that I reviewed in the glossy version last year) now in a matte finish in six shades, from nude to bold orange (I believe the model is wearing bordeaux Impulsion on the picture above).
- Le Vernis Mat nail lacquer in two shades, a red and a bordeau.

Not officially part of the fall/winter collection but also matte and just released:
- The Rouge Allure Liquid Powder Matte Lip Color: intriguing although it sounds like my dry lips may not like it! Comes in six shades.
- The Rouge Allure Velvet Extrême, an ultra-matte version of Chanel's iconic lipstick, in a matte black case. Also comes in six shades.

And finally there's a new Chanel mascara in town: Le Volume Révolution, which is supposed to provide extreme volume with its 3D printed brush.

What do you think of this year's fall makeup collection by the biggest French beauty brands? We have a lot of nude and burgundy lips here, and nothing very unique if you ask me, although the bright oranges in Dior's En Diable stand out!
