lip-shaped cute lipstick adorable

Do you fall for makeup in adorable packaging? I used to buy all things cute but I've been focusing on good quality rather than pretty products lately. However when I saw the limited edition L'Absolu Rouge Lipsticks by Lancôme in collaboration with style influencer Camila Coelho, I couldn't resist! Lip shaped lipstick from my favorite brand? I'll take one thank you!

For the occasion Lancôme dressed their L'Absolu Rouge in red. The tube is the same as the permanent range of their classic lipstick, but in red instead of black. I hadn't bought a L'Absolu Rouge since they reformulated and redesigned it (last year I think) so it took me a while to understand that you have to push the golden rose on top to pop out the lipstick. It's basically the same system as the Chanel Rouge Allure (which also came in a limited edition red tube last Christmas...).

If you are not familiar with Camila Coelho, she's a Boston based Brazilian influencer with more than 7 million followers on Instagram. I've watched a few of her videos on Youtube in the past, and she always has impeccable style. I think she did a great job curating the colors of this lipstick collection, and I'm not surprised!

The L'Absolu Rouge x Camila Coelho comes in 10 shades: 3 mattes and 7 satins, from light neutral Parisian Nude to deep oxblood red Copacabana. You know I have a ton of lipsticks, so I tried to go out of my comfort zone and pick a shade that would be more unique in my collection. That's why I chose Tropical Pink, a cool-toned hot pink!

Tropical Pink is one of the three mattes, but the texture feels very soft and silky. It glides effortlessly on the lips without tugging, I think there must be some silicones in there that create this soft touch feeling. Just after application the finish is more of a soft satin or semi-matte, but it does become fully matte as the subtle sheen wears off. It's also very thin and lightweight, so you don't get that feeling of wearing a thick coat of lipstick like you would with a liquid matte. The formula isn't drying at all, I find it very comfortable throughout the day on my chronically chapped lips.

Can we talk about the adorableness of those lips? The cute shape of this lipstick is what makes it unique, but it also means I have to use a lip brush to apply it. It's fun to get a kiss from the lips but the shape doesn't allow very precise application! With a brush however it's very easy to draw a sharp line at the edges. The formula isn't completely opaque in one swipe, but can be layered for maximum color payoff.

When I received my L'Absolu Rouge x Camila Coelho lipstick I thought Tropical Pink was more of a plum and less of a hot pink than I had imagined. But once applied, it really is a bold cool-toned medium pink. It's definitely not the kind of shade I typically wear! I think it's a stunning color, but I'm having difficulties finding what to pair it with. I've worn eye looks in neutral to warm tones that I thought clashed with it. I would love your advice!

The staying power of Tropical Pink is absolutely amazing. It's not transfer-free so I do leave a pink ring on my tea mugs, but it lasts for half the day looking just as strong. Most of it even makes it through a meal, although I prefer to re-apply after eating to make sure the color is still even.

If you're a fan of Camila Coelho, a Lancôme lover or just someone who enjoys cute but high quality makeup, I think you'd very much like these lip-shaped L'Absolu Rouge Lipsticks. The matte formula is excellent, very long-wearing yet not drying. They get a thumbs up from me!
