Holiday Gift Guide: makeup and fragrance gift ideas from top French brands

Well hello again! After the skin and body gift ideas last week, let's continue our festive Holiday Gift Guide series (2 posts is a series, right?) with some makeup and fragrance picks. Of course everything here is certified French, and I selected nice sets and products from established, easy to find brands for last minute gifts that are likely to please anyone in your Christmas list. Let's take a look!

Here are the details about my makeup and fragrance picks (top to bottom and left to right):

- Givenchy Ondulations d'Or: seriously, how beautiful is this starry eyeshadow? It's a bit pricey but looks so festive, and the gold/black combination should be perfect for party New Year's Eve looks!

- Yves Saint Laurent Kiss & Love Set: includes 3 Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks and 3 La Lacque nail polishes, all in mini sizes and in iconic shades of red, fuchsia and nude.

- Clarins Instant Light Gloss & Perfect Lip Trio: this little set contains three great lip products by one of my favorite brands, the Instant Light Lip Perfector (that I reviewed here) in Rosewood and Rose, and the Instant Light Balm Perfector in My Pink.

- Lancôme Les Artistes de Paris Makeup Must-Haves: this is actually a "purchase-with-purchase" offer, but what a nice one! It contains the cult Bi-Facil makeup remover, a really nice palette featuring Color Design Eyeshadow and Blush Subtil formulas, an Hypnôse Drama mascara, a Color Design Lipstick and a Gloss In Love, together with a blush brush and large makeup bag.

- Dior Holiday Couture Palette: I have a couple of these limited edition palettes by Dior, and really like them. They look beautiful in their monogram cases, and while the eyeshadows they contain are not the most pigmented ever, they work really well to create an elegant look. I think they make a really good luxury gift!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara Gift Set: Grandiôse is a fantastic and unique "swan-neck" shaped mascara (I reviewed it here), definitely my favorite among Lancôme mascara lineup, and one of my favorite mascaras ever. For just a few more bucks than the price of the mascara alone, you can gift it with a lash primer and the famous Bi-Facil makeup remover. That's a gift I'd really like to receive!

Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Silky Satin Lip Colour: if you follow makeup news, you couldn't miss the Louboutin lipstick launch a few months ago. This one is the satin finish in the unmistakable red shade that covers the sole of Louboutin pumps. It's a jewel as much of a lipstick and a perfect gift for someone who likes bling and glamour.

Dior Backstage Pros Instant Beauty Solutions Set: this set is a solid selection of makeup basics that flatter without transforming, and it would be a great choice for someone with a more minimalist approach to beauty, or someone who's really into the no-makeup makeup look. It contains a lash primer, a brow pencil, the Lip Maximizer (plumping gloss), the Lip Glow Balm in Pink and the Nail Glow. Everything in there is full-size!

Atelier Cologne Miniature Discovery Collection: Atelier Cologne makes some really wonderful scents, and a kit is a great way to help someone discover their favorites. I like this particular set because it contains mini-bottles rather than tiny sample-like vials, making it more giftable. This one includes Orange Sanguine, Pomélo Paradis, Vanille Insensée, Rose Anonyme and Vétiver Fatal, but there are other combinations available.

- Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune Set: for me this citrusy scent, with top notes of grapefruit and bergamot, is summer in a bottle. What better gift than a bit of summer in the heart of cold, icy winter? Especially when it comes in the classic Bee Bottle by Guerlain, with an extra purse spray. Classy.

I just have one extra suggestion if you can shell out more than $300 on a single gift set. Yeah, I know, it's outrageous, but this set would give any makeup lover palpitations - even I, although I'm not really into Chanel, would get super excited! This ultimate set called Double The Delight contain 6 Rouge Coco lipsticks and 6 Le Vernis nail lacquers in coordinated shades. Just look at this beauty!
