Holiday Gift Guide - Skin & Body Gifts from French Beauty Brands

It's this time of year again: the feverish holiday shopping frenzy is upon us! Not sure what to get for the beauty enthusiasts around you? You want to give them something they haven't already tried? Or maybe you're just looking for distinctive stocking stuffers for your loved ones?

Because I'm so nice, I decided to help: here, you'll find a curated selection of gifts from fine French beauty brands, including some of the lesser known ones, so you can surprise even the most seasoned beauty expert, or just get aunt Gertrude something she'll truly enjoy using. You don't have to be rich to gift French beauty, so the standout gift ideas start from $18!

You can click on the images or links to find where you can buy the products online (affiliate links). They are all available at the time this post is published, and you should still have ample time for Christmas delivery (besides, many of these brands are not available in stores). Let's start!

Vichy Cleansing Micellar Oil: for your cool friend who likes to follow new skincare trends, a hybrid somewhere in between cleansing oil and micellar water! It works like any other cleansing oil (the oil turns into a lotion when you add water), so it's a good basic with a twist. And with the Vichy thermal water in the formula, it's great for all skin types, including sensitive.

Caudalie Mask Trio: Caudalie's mask collection was one of the biggest new launches this year in French skincare, and this trio is a great way to try 3 at once, the Moisturizing Mask, the Glycolic Peel and the Instant Detox Mask (the biggest tube in this set).

Lierac Gommage Sensoriel: a foaming gel body scrub scented with three white flowers - jasmine, gardenia and vanilla. It's packed with natural plant extracts, from peach seed powder to exfoliate to argan and sweet almond oil to nourish. I really like Lierac, they make my favorite micellar water, it's a very good brand that is worth discovering!

Le Couvent des Minimes Morning Dew Gift Set: Le Couvent des Minimes is another one of my fave French brands, and they released bath and body products in new fragrances this year. This affordable set is a good way to discover the Morning Dew line, scented with orange, lemon, basil and cedar. It contains the Awakening Shower Dew, the Eau des Matines cologne, the Refreshing Body Moisturizer and the Hand Cream.

Decleor Baume Relax Intense: Decleor is THE specialist of aromatherapy in skin care (formulations that include essential oils). This massage balm is 100% natural and contains a blend of essential oils to soothe the mind while relaxing the body. The brand is clearly high-end, so the price is a little high, but their products are delightfully luxurious.

Phyto Chic & Go Blow Dry Must-Have Set: for the hair enthusiast, this set contains 4 styling products in a golden pouch (Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray, Phytodéfrisant Botanical Hair Straightening Balm, Phytokératine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray, Phyto Professional Phytolaque Soie Light Hold Hair Spray). If you don't know Phyto, it's a high-end brand of hair care containing plant extracts with products to address all needs and concerns.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm: this little pot of lip balm has been a cult product in France for a long time, and I'm pleased to see that it's gaining popularity in the US too. It nourishes and repairs dry lips, and it smells yummy! By the way, if you get addicted to the scent, you should know that the Rêve de Miel (Honey Dream) line includes a lot of other products, from a shampoo to face moisturizers.

At Home Spa Set by Violet Grey: how often do you find great sets that include several brands? Never... until Violet Grey launched their curated gift sets. This one is an all-French indulgent spa kit that contains: Caudalie Divine Body Scrub and Divine Oil, René Furterer Karité Intense Nourishing Mask for hair and Chantecaille Jasmine and Lily Healing Mask (Chantecaille is US-based but was founded by a French woman).

Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm: solid cleansing balms that melt into oil with the warmth of your skin are getting very popular these days, with many brands releasing their own version, from Peter Thomas Roth to Erborian or The Body Shop. This balm by Darphin is a luxurious option that would please any skincare lover. It contains organic marula oil and vanilla extract as well as a blend of essential oils.

Carita Ideal Hydration Lagoon Holiday Set: Carita is one of these niche luxury French skin care brands that are still quite confidential. I've been drooling over their Lagoon hydrating line for months, and this fairly priced set (it's on sale right now) looks like a fantastic way to discover the range, with the Lagoon Cream in full-size, plus travel sizes of the Scrub, Mask and Serum, all that for the price of the Cream (minus 40% with the current sale!).

L'Occitane Pamplemousse Rhubarbe Voyage Set: for the holidays this year L'Occitane partnered with Pierre Hermé, pastry chef and macaron guru, to launch two new limited edition scents: this grapefruit-rhubarb, a fruity fragrance with a hint of bitterness, and a floral, Jasmin Immortelle Neroli. Both are well-balanced and amazingly yummy - it was hard not to lick my fingers after trying the hand creams... This little set containing a soap, a hand cream and a lip balm is an affordable way to gift one of these beautiful olfactory creations.
