I won't dance for Nyx Life is a Cha Cha eyeshadow trio!

The kind of beauty related experience that I hate the most is when a product looks gorgeous, but turns out to be awful. Pityful. Terrible. I just had this major disappointment with Nyx Love in Rio eyeshadow palette in Life is a Cha Cha

It's so, so pretty in the pan. The shadows look like the perfect combination of mauve, medium plum and dark purple. They have gorgeous blue shimmer and slightly shift color when the light hits them at different angles.

I had hopes. Expectations. I could see this little palette become my go-to product for purple eye looks and week-end getaways. Let me tell you, it won't. If it has to go anywhere, that's gonna be back to Ulta. I sure hope they'll take it back...

Look for yourself at this sweet, pretty compact and tell you don't say "Ooooh". So did I. Then I swatched and realized the three shades were extremely sheer. The swatches you see on my arm are HEAVY.

It got worse when I tried them on my eyes, over a good base to boost their intensity. They're very powdery, prone to fall-out, still terribly sheer, and apply unevenly. There's just barely any pigment in these shadows. I packed and packed the product on, and it would still look very faint, flat, not showing any sign of shimmer and reflection. The lighter mauve didn't show up at all on my lids, while the other 2 looked completely similar. It's just impossible to create a decent eye look with this trio.

Overall, I can't find anything positive to say about this palette, except that it looks pretty as long as you don't use it. If you collect makeup to display on a shelf, like art, and never intend to open it, then by all means, go ahead and buy it. Otherwise, keep your 5$99 and get something you can actually put on your eyes. For similar shades, you might try Wet n Wild Petal Pusher Color Icon palette. It's not perfect, but it's 4$99 for 6 shadows, some of which perform quite well.

    1. Believe me the other 2 shades don't show up much more on the eye :/
This one is a big miss! Do you know any NYX shadows that would be worth trying for me?

  3. The colors are definitely too sheet, which is usual for NYX. I've yet to have any shadows from them that are not of high qualities. It's sad to hear this because I've had high hopes for this trio.

  4. I've never understood what people see in NYX shadows. I bought so many because they were cheap, and only a few were good. Inglot blows them away every time. I do enjoy their lipsticks, though.

  5. I completely disagree. I find them to be so pigmented that I only wear the lightest shade with a fluffy MAC brush application on a daily basis, otherwise I'd look like a clown. Maybe you got a bad set.
