The Perfect Mermaid's Nail Polish!

I like hidden treasures, and Sea Dust nail polish from Urban Outfitters ($5, but watch out for their 2 for $8 sales) is exactly that. A gem that shines so faintly nobody noticed it, but that reveals itself once taken out of the store shelf.

The perfectly named Sea Dust is a metallic aqua green loaded with silver micro-glitter and larger blue sparkles. It shouts mermaid, sea monster, desert island and pirate ship to me!

It comes in a glass cube which looks a lot like Sephora + Pantone Universe lacquers containers: kind of bulky, but sturdy and easy to store... if you have other square bottles. It has a classic round brush, but in a wide, flexible version, and the rubber cap makes it very easy to use. With an excellent texture, fluid but not runny, application is a breeze.

I was surprised to see that, although it's a glittery polish with a sheerer base, it's perfectly opaque in 2 coats. It dries fast, and it's not even feeling too gritty on the nails, despite the sparkles. If you like a perfectly smooth touch, you'll want to add a top coat, but I didn't feel like I needed too. Icing on the cake, it wore for about 5 days without chipping, which is way above average for me!

With flash

Overall, I'm really impressed by the quality of this polish, I didn't expect to find a flawless nail product in a clothing store! I definitely recommend it, and if you're not into that kind of color, check their other shades. There's some stunning glitters and really pretty shimmers too.

UPDATE: thanks to pretty fire-head Tracy, I figured that this polish is a DEAD-ON DUPE for Deborah Lippman Mermaid's Dream, which retails for $18...

  1. Hey, this looks like a dupe for a Lipmann polish! Mermaid something it's called. It's really close to it! I love it! Those polishes are about $18 here so this is better!

    1. Wow, you're right, it's a dead-on dupe for Deborah Lippman Mermaid's Dream! Maybe the DL has a tad more blue sparkles, but it's hard to say. I knew this shade looked like I had always wanted it! I probably saw it on a blog before.
