Rose Twinkle

Lancôme has been contributing to the highlighter trend a lot in the past couple years. The French makeup brand has released highlighters in cream, cushion, rose-shaped, wet & dry powder formulas, and they just launched new palettes! Each Glow For It Highlighter Palette contains a trio of shimmering powders that can be used on the cheeks, eyes and lips. It sounds promising but is it as good as Lancôme claims? Let's find out!

The Glow For It palettes come in four different shade combinations. The one I bought, Rose Twinkle, is the one available at Sephora. Ulta sells 3 other color combos (a gold-hued and two jewel tones that could be great picks for deeper skin tones, one with a true purple and another with a red ruby shade). Lancôme sells all 4 on their own website.

Rose Twinkle contains a soft bronze, a warm pink and a peachy champagne gold. This palette is by far the lightest of the four, making it the easiest to wear on light skin tones like mine. The three powders are extremely finely milled and very soft to the touch. They feel almost creamy in their pans. They are also very pigmented, providing opaque coverage with a tiny amount of product. A little goes a long way!

The bronzey shade on the left has the most subtle, natural glow in the trio. The middle pink shade is more metallic and contains visible sparkles. The gold on the right has a strong shine but no glitter particles. Since I tend to prefer soft, lit-from-within glow, the finish of the first shade on the left is my favorite. The other two yield a rather strong metallic shine, so you'll prefer them if you love a more over-the-top highlight. They're a bit too Instagram-like for my taste, although I can use them applied very lightly and buffed into the skin. The pink makes a gorgeous inner-corner highlight on the eye.

Besides the shine all three shades also deliver a good amount of color, which makes them great as eyeshadows. I can use all three in an eye look as they're different enough not to just blend together in a shiny rosy gold color. On the cheeks, the bronzey shade on the left gives me a hint of red-toned bronzer color depending on how the light hits it. The middle pink shade provides a rosy color, while the champagne on the right is the closest to my skin tone.

Since Lancôme says that the Glow For It palette can be used on the lips I tried it to add dimension. It works well, especially the champagne gold shade, to add metallic shine to the center of the lips for a glam look. The shine will disappear together with your lipstick, however wear time on the face and eyes is very good, I don't have any visible fading at the end of the day. The larger sparkles in the pink shade can travel a little bit but nothing major.

Of note: the palette is made of cardboard, which is rather unusual for a Lancôme product. It doesn't feel cheap however but rather sturdy, and the compact, sleek design works well for this type of product. I've traveled with it twice already and the packaging still looks pristine.

Overall

The Glow for It is a versatile palette that works well to highlight the cheeks or as a shimmering eyeshadow trio. The powders have a wonderfully soft texture that applies and blends beautifully on the skin and last all day. I really appreciate the fact that Lancôme launched multiple color combinations so every skin tone can find their perfect highlighter set.
