Holiday 2017 makeup collections by French beauty brands

Top French beauty brands have all created beautiful holiday makeup collections this season. As usual there's a lot of gold, but also some enticing reds and smokey eyes. Take a look at the offerings from Dior, YSL, Chanel, Guerlain and Lancôme - just click on the images to see where you can buy the products!

Dior

Dior has been releasing holiday items in their classic gold Diorific packaging for a few years now, and this holiday season is no exception with the Precious Rock collection. We get:
- the Diorific Khol Powder Lipsticks, a matte lippie with a pointy tips for precise application in 5 shades
- a repromote of the Diorific Matte Fluid for cheeks and lips that we already saw last year (my review) but in 4 new shades
- the now classic Diorific Vernis ball nail lacquers in 4 shades

As for the star products, we get:
- a beautiful hightlighter with a faceted embossing, the Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Precious Rocks Shimmering Sculpting Powder (quite a mouthful)
- two new 5 Couleurs eyeshadow quints with limited edition design in Emerald and Ruby

The collection also includes a blush and a shimmering loose powder that I haven't seen in stores yet. I will update when they become available!

Guerlain

I haven't seen much info on Guerlain's holiday collection, but based on the product names, I'd guess it's called Gold Light. Here's what it includes:
- the star of the show, an eye and cheek palette called the Gold Palette. It looks absolutely stunning, but it retails for $80... Would like to see a review on it on Beaumiroir? If you do let me know in the comments.
- as usual, a limited edition version of the iconic Météorites pearls of powder. The jar is very bling this year with its all-gold ridged design.
- a limited edition Terracotta bronzing powder, in a beautiful art deco compact.
- Guerlain is finally adding two new shades to the cult Rouge G lipstick line!
- a lipstick palette, the KissKiss Contouring Lip Palette - not sure if it's part of the fall or the holiday collection, since everything now releases basically at the same time...

Yves Saint Laurent

YSL has a very small Holiday collection this year with just a palette, nail lacquers and limited edition packaging of their best-selling Touche Eclat and lipsticks:
- the Dazzling Ligths Multi-use Makeup palette includes 4 eyeshadows, a rosy highlighter and 2 lip colors.
- Dazzling Lights La Laque nail lacquer in 2 sparkly shades of red and gold.
- Dazzling Lights Touche Eclat Pen: YSL's iconic pen highlighter in a festive packaging.
- Rouge Pur Couture Dazzling Ligths Edition: the creamy lipstick gets a special glittery tube for the holidays.

Chanel

Chanel doesn't have a collection that's officially for the holidays, but they have 3 recent collection releases, 2 of which are inspired by numbers. Sure. It's mostly about red lipsticks and highlighters.
- Le Signe Du Lion highlighter comes in 2 shades with a lion head embossing.
- The Collection Libre Numéros Rouges features 4 red lipsticks in the Rouge Allure and the Allure Velvet formulas, in limited edition red tubes (see my recent review of one of the colors). Besides the lipsticks, the collection also includes the Trait de Caractère eyeshadow palette, the Ombre Première in Silver Screen, a green pencil liner, Le Volume mascara in a new plummy shade, 2 new shades of Rouge Coco Gloss, 2 limited edition shades of nail lacquer, and the Joue Contraste Blush in the bright orange red So Close. You can see the whole collection, including the permanent shades that are being repromoted, here.
- The Collection Chiffrée, inspired by Gabrielle Chanel's favorite numbers, includes Chiffres Entrelacés, a pearlescent beige face powder, and 3 limited edition nail colors in shades of blue/green. Some shades of the Crayon de Couleur lipstick are also repromoted, see the entire collection here.

Lancôme

Lancôme loves to release tons of skincare and makeup sets for the holidays (most of them boring if you ask me, except for this crazy Shaker Vault!), and launched their Holiday color collection rather late. It's quite dark this year, with lots of highlight and sparkles to pair with smokey eyes. Here's what you can get:
- the Ombre Hypnôse single eyeshadow in 4 shades of "almost black".
- the Glow For It highlighter trio palettes, in a total of 4 different color combinations available at various retailers (I'll have a review of Rose Twinkle, available at Sephora, on Friday).
- L'Absolu Rouge Lipstick in a sparkling Holiday Edition packaging - various shades available at different retailers, 3 total.
- the Smoky Eye Duo Pen, a double ended eye pen with a light shimmer end and and a dark smokey end, in 4 shades as far as I can tell.
