Today feels like a good day to talk about pretty, shiny things rather than focus on the anxiety inducing news. So let's spend a relaxing moment together taking a look at Dior's new 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow palette in Precious Embroidery!

Part of the Holiday 2016 Splendor makeup collection by Dior, Precious Embroidery is one of two limited edition 5 Couleurs palettes. The other, Smoky Sequins, features shades of white, gray and black for a smokey look. This one, on the other hand, is a warm combinations of neutral and plummy colors. A few years ago Dior started decorating its limited edition palettes with intricate embossing on the shadows themselves, and this Holiday collection is no exception: the sequin pattern is very realistic!

When I first saw pictures of the two palettes being launched for the Holidays, I thought that Precious Embroidery's color selection was leaning very purple. It turns out to be much more neutral than I expected, with only one shade out of five that has plummy undertones. The shades, however, play very well with each other to create a warm, slightly plummy sultry neutral look that I find very flattering on my green eyes.

Dior's eyeshadow palettes have been a bit hit-and-miss in the past few years, with some recent releases that disappointed by their dry textures and lack of intensity. Luckily Precious Embroidery can be counted in the hit category! The shadows are soft, well pigmented and they're very easy to blend. I only had very minor fallout during application.

The shadows in Precious Embroidery reminded me a lot of Dior's fall Parisian Sky palette. They have the same thin, almost gel-like texture with a luminous, shimmery finish that makes the eyes glow. Some will deplore the absence of at least one matte shade to add contrast and definition, but if luminosity is what you're looking for, I think you will really enjoy this palette.

Overall

Precious Embroidery is a very pretty warm neutral eyeshadow palette with a hint of plum, and the nicely pigmented shadows apply beautifully with their soft shimmery finish. It would make a great luxury gift for a makeup lover!
