fall lipstick highlighter eyeshadow palette blush

After a break last week for a short vacation to New Orleans (it was fantastic, I can post pictures if you'd like!) I'm back today for a Fall makeup edit. It's still very warm here in San Diego, so getting into autumn fashion and makeup isn't easy... that's why this little selection of my favorite products for the season is coming a whole month after fall officially started!

I've made quite a few makeup purchases over the past couple of month, and they're joining my long-time pumpkin season favorites in this list of my fave picks. You'll see me wear them and mention them a lot in the next few months!

You can click on the product names for online retailers and prices. I've also included swatches at the bottom for everything but the eyeshadow palettes I've already reviewed (you can click on the review links to see those swatches). Let's take a look!

The Fall Makeup Edit: top makeup products for the season

The Fall Makeup Edit: top makeup products for the season

1- MAC D For Danger matte lipstick: I bought this shade last year when MAC launched a whole collection of new mattes, and I absolutely love it! It's the kind of empowering shade that makes me feel like I rule the world: a deep reddish fuchsia pink that's just bold and vampy enough to command attention. The matte formula is non-drying, comfortable and long-wearing. This is one of my favorite shades of MAC lipsticks of all time!

2- Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge Définition in Le Sépia: I just reviewed this shade a few weeks ago, take a look for more details and swatches. This is an easy-to-wear version of the classic red with soft brown tones and an interesting semi-matte finish. Classy but neither too formal nor too bold!

3- Givenchy Le Rouge in Rose Dentelle: I showed you my collection of Givenchy Le Rouge a while back, Rose Dentelle is the most "neutral" shade that I own, however it's anything but boring! It's a warm rose with strong red undertones, in the creamy, opaque and long-wearing formula that I love.

4- Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Hitch Hike: this shade is not getting much attention apparently, but it's the one that caught my eye when UD released their new Vice lipstick range. It's a brick red with brown undertones that works perfectly with warm fall makeup looks.

5- Nars Hardwired eyeshadow in Pygar: newly released, Pygar is a metallic gold that's so reflective that it turned white in my pictures! Look at the swatches at the bottom to get a better idea of the color. I really want to pair it with burgundy hues this season, I'll post some looks when the weather is finally appropriate for fall looks.

6- Lancôme Vernis in Love Nail Polish in Café Philo: part of the fall Lancome x Sonia Rykiel collection, this shade is what we would call caca d'oie in French. Litterally, goose poop... It's a greenish medium brown, just weird enough to be unconventional, but interesting and wearable. I think. If you've been wanting to explore high-end nail polish territory, Lancome's lacquers are a great option, high quality and at $15.50 still much cheaper than Chanel or Dior's.

7- MAC Trip The Light Fantastic Powder in Highly Illogical: this cheek color from the MAC x Star Trek collection is the perfect blush/highlighter hybrid for my complexion for fall! It has the seasonal berry undertones, a beautiful sheen, and it's easy to blend. It's actually still available and I highly recommend it, especially if you like a stunning marbled design.

8- MAC Lipglass in Khaaannnn!: another item from the MAC x Star Trek collection (did you read my post about the special launch event at San Diego Comic Con?), Khaaannnn! is my absolute favorite lipgloss by MAC in years. It's heavy on the sparkles, super reflective, and the bright pink is not a shade I typically go for, but it works, oh so well! Also still available and warmly recommended.

9- YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush in Nude Insolent: a good ol' classic for me, this creamy formula is one of the rare products that works just as well on the lips and on the cheeks. Nude Insolent is a perfect deep neutral for the cooler season. I reviewed it last year, take a look for swatches and details.

10- Estée Lauder x Victoria Beckham Eyeshadow Palette: yup, I broke the piggy bank and indulged in this luxurious beauty. Let me tell you, I don't regret splurging, it's worth every penny! The shadows are incredibly beautiful, buttery soft, and the colors are simply gorgeous. Plus the compact is so hefty and elegant. It actually reminds me of old school metal powder compacts that I found in my great grand-mother's stuff when I was a kid. The kind that were passed down to the next generation.

11- Stila Convertible Color Dual Lip & Cheek Palette: I really like this cream blush and lipstick formula, and the colors in this little palette are perfect for the season. Check out my full review for more details on each shade. I prefer most of them on the cheeks rather than on the lips, but they're so easy to apply and blend. Stila also makes this palette in a warm color combination that I may purchase next year for the summer if it's still available!

12- Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love: the perfect neutral blush in a heart-shaped compact - what's not to love? The texture is soft and blends really well on the skin. Read my review for more info and swatches.

13- Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo in Message: the gloss-in-a-stick by Chanel is perfect for high-impact fall lips in this berry red color. So shiny and juicy! Take a look at my review for pics of this color on the lips and swatches of all the other shades in the range too.

14- Guerlain 5 Couleurs Eye Palette in Coque d'Or: this palette may look like a combination you've seen before, however the shades work together to create the absolute most perfect gold-to-bronze ombre look you've ever seen. The formula is not the most pigmented out there but it's buildable and the shadows blend into each other seamlessly. Check out the swatches plus two looks I created with it in my review post.

15- Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in Amoureux: the perfect liquid matte lipstick for people with dry lips, and of course it's by Chanel! Amoureux is a great mid-tone peachy neutral that doesn't wash me out and pairs well with the deeper eye looks I want to create for fall. You can see my recent review for more info.

16- Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in Parisian Sky: another palette that doesn't look new, but that impresses by its unique formula and finish. The neutral shades in this one have a gorgeous glow to them that's incredibly flattering, and the pale blue and grey add an interesting twist. Read my full review for details, swatches and eye looks.

17- Lancôme x Sonia Rykiel Eyeshadow Palette in Parisian Spirit: you know that I was disappointed by the cool, blue version of this fall collection release (or if you don't, read about it here to see swatches) and pleasantly surprised by the warm, pink version that I received by mistake. This is the perfect palette for quick, everyday looks with a mix of finishes and buildable shadows. The rosy and purple tones make it great for soft fall looks as well.
