On the first day of spring, yesterday, I spent my time going through my makeup stash to find products I want to wear this season. The idea was to create a sort of Spring Makeup Capsule (see my capsuling experiment here), but with a lot of variety and no commitment to use these products only. I decided to show you what I selected, I hope that it can help you find inspiration for your own spring makeup looks! Swatches are the bottom of the post.
- Almay Shadow Softies in Lilac and Crème Brûlée: I really like these little cream-to-powder eyeshadows for soft, sheer looks, applied with fingertips. Lilac is the perfect pale lavender shade, and Crème Brûlée an illuminating shimmery champagne. The fact that they're under $5 makes it even better! I reviewed them a while back if you want to know more.
- NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair: the perfect cool milky pink in the much loved, comfortable Butter Gloss formula. That's another cheap thrill under $5!
- Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Natural: this one has just the right amount of beige, pink and peach with a hint of shimmer for a natural luminous cheek. And the little hearts make me happy!
- L'Oréal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Highlighter: these pencil liners have a great reputation for a reason, they're beautifully pigmented and glide on like a dream. Highlighter is a peachy beige pearly shade that's perfect to use in the inner corner to brighten the eye.
- Clinique Cheek Pop in Peach Pop: adorable, and a perfect peachy pink shade with a flattering satin finish and just the right amount of healthy sheen.
- Lancôme Color Design Infinité Eye Shadow in Enduring Vert: this is a lovely shimmery mint green in a loosely pressed powder form - similar to the L'Oréal Infaillible eye shadows. It's really reflective so it catches the light beautifully. You can read my full review for more details and pictures.
- Benefit Posie Tint: I have a travel-size of this lip & cheek stain and I hadn't used it in a long time, so I'm glad I rediscovered it while shopping my stash! It's a perfect fresh pink for spring, not too cool for my complexion, and the stain lasts forever on the skin (I had this pink line on my arm all day after making the swatches!).
- Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupté in Nude Carat: my favorite nude lipgloss, yes despite the overwhelming mango scent (read my review to learn about it). It's a beige with pink undertones and a gorgeous golden shimmer. Very pretty and soft on the lips!
- OPI Nail Lacquer in Got Myself into a Jambalaya: part of the newly released New Orleans collection, this is a pale, creamy coral that I got in a set of 4 minis. Hoping to love it!
- Lancôme My Parisian Blush in Corail de Ville: this bouncy cream blush was released with Lancôme's cute Spring 2016 collection, and I've been loving it since I purchased it (see my review for details including pictures of the adorable tin box). Now that spring is finally here officially, it's going to bea staple in my makeup looks! Being limited edition it's already sold out at most retailers, so if you want it it's now or never. Click on the link above or the photo at the bottom of the post to find a retailer who still has it in stock.
- Too Faced Melted Metal Lipstick in Debutante: a gorgeous, metallic and reflective pink coral with very warm undertones. The Melted Metals might not be as long-wearing and opaque as the original Melted liquid lipstick formula but they're still a great option for shimmery lips.
- Zoya Nail Lacquer in Neely: the quality of Zoya nail polish is simply amazing. Look at the swatch down below: this is a single layer of a pale, pastel mint green. Not streaky in the least, it looks perfectly even! You do need 2 layers for a fully opaque finish on the nails, but it's incredibly easy to apply for such a pale color. Really love this one.
- Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Periwinkle: I got this one on sale a couple month ago and I couldn't wait for spring to finally incorporate it to my eye looks! The Smudge Sticks are great liners, highly pigmented, they go on smoothly and last well. This one is a cool blue-based lavender, not a pastel but a very refreshing shade for the season.
- Stila Convertible Color in Gerbera: I have a thing for cream blush, in case you hadn't noticed! The Convertible Colors can also be used on the lips, but let's be honest, they work best on the cheeks. This one is a light pink with a hint of peach.
- Givenchy Gelée d'Interdit Gloss in Icy Peach: because sometimes you need sparkly lips, whatever the season! The swatch really doesn't do this one justice, the shimmer is dense and really attracts the light in real life, although the base is almost clear. How cute is my little travel-size version?
- Essence Sheer & Shine Lipstick in All About Cupcake: I realize I haven't talked much about Essence on the blog, but I tried quite a few of their products, starting years ago in France long before they made it to the USA. They have hits and misses, but their little lipsticks are usually very good, especially for the price ($2.99!). This one is a perfect sheer and glossy warm pink that glides effortlessly on the lips.
- OPI Nail Lacquer in Let's Be Friends!: this one is part of the Hello Kitty collection. It's a very pale, almost white milky pink, a more unique color in my collection, and I bought it primarily to wear on my toes. I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard good things about the texture, so hopefully it will apply well.
- Guerlain Météorites Pearls of Powder in Clair: this is a year-round product for me but the pastel pearls look particularly appropriate for spring. It's a finishing powder that corrects, blurs and brightens, and its subtle effect is simply gorgeous. I just reviewed Guerlain's summer 2016 edition!
