Kiko Haul: swatches, first impressions, fotd

I've been a big fan of Kiko for years, and you can't even begin to imagine how thrilled I was a few months ago when the Italian cosmetics brand finally opened their US e-store. I might have done a little happy dance in my living room that day...

Despite the excitement and due to budget restrictions, I decided to wait for a good sale before placing my first order. It was hard. Really. But then the November sale craziness happened, and to my delight Kiko's way of celebrating Black Friday consumerism was a 30% off the entire website offer (don't you think a store-wide sale is much better than a handful of Black Friday/Cyber Monday specials?). So finally I unleashed my inner Kiko beast and ordered a bunch of products from 3 of their most recent limited edition collections: Rebel Romantic, Midnight Siren the Cosmic Starlets Holiday collection

Here's the list of what I bought, with my first impressions:

- Rebel Bouncy Blush in 01 Velvety Peach: this is a beautiful peachy nude blush with a very natural finish. The texture is not as soft as I imagined it (I thought it would be similar to Maybelline's Dream Bouncy Blush but it's definitely more firm), but it's very easy to apply and blend with a brush.

- Colour Definition Eyeliner & Kajal in 02 Cuddly Marsala and 03 Warrior Violet: I'm a bit disappointed by these liners that I bought exclusively to use on the waterline. They last long, but they're a pain to apply. I even considered returning them at first, but after 4-5 uses I found a way to make them work okay. They tend to go on uneven and not very intense on the waterline, but they're absolutely impossible to build, they lift and erase the first layer if you try to go over it. I found that I have to work on a tiny area (1-2 mm in length) of my waterline at a time and build as much as I can before it sets, then move to the next "section". So they're really finicky, but the colors are nice (a warm, plummy brown and a warm purple).

- Metallic Shine Eyeshadow in 05 Charming Sage: I decided to purchase this shade of golden green after seeing a swatch on Carol In A Page (you should check out her blog if you don't know it!). The texture reminds me of L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows: it's a loosely packed, creamy powder, with nice intensity and a beautiful shimmery finish.

- Moon Shadow Water Infused Eyeshadow in 02 Mysterious Chocolate: I was a bit hesitant to buy this shadow stick, because this form of cream shadow can often be a bit hard to blend. I'm glad I did, because it turns out to be a fantastic product! It glides on the lid and takes a few minutes to set, so you have ample time to even out the color with a finger and blend the edges with a brush. My swatch seems a little sheer, but on my eyes it looks intense and shimmery.

- Matte Muse Lipstick in 02 Embellished Peony: this is Kiko's version of this season's makeup must-have, the liquid matte lipstick. It has more of a semi-matte finish and it's completely opaque in one swipe, in a medium pink, warm shade. So far I'm really liking it!

- Double Glam Eyeliner in 113 Gold Sage - Anthracite: I already own 2 Double Glam Eyeliners from past collections and absolutely love them, so I wanted to try a new one. The colors are really not what I expected based on the swatches on Kiko's website: I thought the grey would be matte or satin, not glittery, and I expected the "sage" side to be much greener and darker, but it turned out to be a very light highlighter shade, with a barely there hint of greenish. The quality is still amazing though.
