Beauty Advent Calendars

As a kid I LOVED Advent Calendars: I was, of course, very impatient to receive Santa's visit and opening the daily window in my Advent calendar each night was spreading the joy and excitement throughout the whole month. Some years I had calendars with a piece of chocolate for each day, but most of the time the little windows only revealed pictures of something Christmas-y: a sock, a sleigh, a star, a snowflake...

I still really enjoy the Advent calendar tradition, and I'm delighted to see more beauty brands launching their calendars for the Holidays - although I wonder why Europe, and especially the UK, has so many more options than the US. Please global brands, we want them on this side of the Atlantic too!

Here are 3 beauty Advent Calendars that caught my eye:

L'Occitane

This is probably the cutest beauty Advent Calendar out there, and, knowing the regular price of L'Occitane bath and body products, the best value at $49. It's filled with travel-size versions of the French brand's cult hand creams, soaps, lotions, Almond shower oil, and a few other Holiday-inspired little things like gift tags. Find it here.

The Body Shop

This year, The Body Shop has 2 different 24 Happy Days Advent Calendars, a regular and a "premium" version, but at $105 and $137 they don't come cheap... They also contain some of the brand's fruit-scented best-sellers in mini sizes. Find them here.

Benefit

I'm not sure I understand the idea behind a 12-day Advent Calendar, but Benefit's little set looks fun and playful. Each window reveals a mini makeup or skincare item, with cult products such as They're Real, High Beam or The Porefessional, for $45. You can find it here.

If you prefer chocolate treats, try to get your hands of the Valrhona Advent Calendar sold at Trader Joe's, if your local store isn't sold out yet. Valrhona is a French brand of high quality chocolate that makes the most delicious bars you've ever tasted! I was lucky enough to go on a trip to Trader Joe's the day they put those calendars on the shelves and was able to grab mine before anyone else - I heard they sold out in 3 days there. You can always turn to Amazon if you can't find it locally!

Do you personally enjoy Advent Calendars, whatever they contain? Do you know of any other beauty Advent Calendars available in the US?
