Throwaways Vol III

It's time for another Throwaways post! Quick reminder: in this post series, I do a brief roundup of products that I finished in the past few weeks, as well as products I found so bad that I gave up on them... I've actually put quite a few things in the "toss" pile lately, let's take a look!

Empties and products getting purged
The departed, dressed for Halloween

So the products I'm saying bye bye to are:

 - Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask: I know this mask is generally well-regarded (it's in almost all the "Best Drugstore Products" selections I've read), but it really didn't do much for me. I didn't feel like my hair was any less dry at the tips. This one is now finished and I won't repurchase.

- Rimmel Scandaleyes by Kate Moss mascara: I reviewed it a while ago, and I wasn't overly impressed then, but things got worse. I can usually keep a mascara for at least 5-6 months, mostly because I have several in my regular rotation. This one felt empty after less than 2 months, despite the fact that I didn't use it daily. In the end, I kept getting fallout from it (yes, from a mascara!) and the nice gunmetal coat on the tube was starting to blister. Coupled with the fact that it didn't live up to the brand's claims, I really wouldn't recommend it. Too bad because the innovative brush shape worked well for me.

- One Shea Butter Lip Balm: this cheap lip balm totally rocks! It's completely natural and contains not only shea, but also linseed, coconut oil, etc... It worked really well for me, healing and nourishing my dry, chapped lips. And it's around $2-3! I've randomly come across it at various drugstores, and the brand has several scents available - the one you can find online these days is the cocoa-coconut. I finished the tin and will definitely repurchase.

- Clinique Even Better foundation: I'm tossing it although it's not empty because I've had it for ages, and the shade (Ivory) is not that great of a match, I think it's too pink. Otherwise, this is a good foundation with medium coverage that looks fairly natural and doesn't sink into pores or lines. I would consider repurchasing if I could find a better shade.

- Vichy Calming Cleansing Micellar Solution: I finished this bottle a few weeks ago, and I already reviewed it. This is a very good micellar water that I recommend for sensitive skins. I would potentially repurchase it if I wasn't trying to test all the micellar waters on the market!

- MAC Blot Pressed Powder: I hit the pan months ago but I kept digging! This is the best mattifying powder I know, and at $26 I'd say it's a good value considering how long it lasts. I disagree with the common belief that any shade can match any skin tone because it's very sheer: the lightest color definitely looks ashy on me, and if I go too dark, it has a bronzing effect. They made it in different shades for a reason! I've repurchased it 3 or 4 times already and I'll definitely continue.

- Ulta Moisture Intense Body Butter in Mandarin-Mint: I squeezed this tube as much as I could to get the last drop! I really liked this body cream, it's very hydrating but not too heavy or greasy, and I LOVE the scent. Citrus combined with herbs is the type of fragrance that makes me happy. I'm really glad it's part of the permanent range! Will absolutely repurchase once I've made a dent in my huge stock of body moisturizers.

- Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eye Shadow Paint: what an aptly named product. This cream shadow is so awful that it is indeed a scandal! It creases in seconds, it's impossible to build but looks very uneven when blended. The texture is just catastrophic and makes it unusable. I have it in Manganese Purple, I don't know if the other shades perform better but I'm not tempted to try. I cannot in good conscience give it to someone else so it's going straight to the trash after 3 attempts to use it. Waste of money!

What products have you finished lately? Do you usually repurchase products you know you liked, or do you prefer to try new ones?

Where to buy?

The products featured in this review were purchased by Lulle, except for the Rimmel mascara (sent by PR through Influenster). I received no compensation to write this post, which only reflects my personal opinion. This post contains affiliate links.
