The very large MAC Is Beauty Spring collection was released in stores just a few days ago. If you were eager to buy anything online like I was, you probably noticed that the launch date was postponed from March 26th to March 30th. I have no idea why, but if you do, I'd love to know!
Among the 12 limited edition lipsticks launched with this collection is Make Me Gorgeous, that MAC describes as an intense coral pink. For me, it's a hot coral with strong pink undertones, very bright but not quite neon (it's close though, which made it a difficult to capture on camera), with an Amplified finish (creamy texture with a satiny, subtly shiny finish).
I find that it doesn't look perfectly even, I have to work quite a bit when applying to have full coverage everywhere and not end up with a streaky look. I also have to be careful not to press my lips together, because it will leave a very visible mark on my upper lip. It tends to settle into lip lines after a few minutes and to emphasize dryness/flakiness more than I would want. In other words, this is really not the best performing Amplified lipstick I've tried.
I does however feel very creamy and comfortable on the lips, and it wears for a good 5 hours as long as I don't eat, leaving a stain behind. It transfers a lot though and I've ended up with coral marks on my cheeks after inadvertently touching my lips.
Overall: Make Me Gorgeous is a happy, bright, a bit in-your-face color that is best paired with simple neutral eyes and liner. The formula is just okay, not quite what I expected from an Amplified lipstick.
Where to buy? At this time, Make Me Gorgeous is still available at Nordstrom and Macy's .

Such a lovely shade! <3
ReplyDeleteYes it's a very happy color!
DeleteI am not sure if I could pull off such a bright lipstick but it suits you very nicely! Too bad the application has its problems too!

It's kind of out of my comfort zone too, and I really need to pair it with nude eyes to make it work. But it's such a brightening shade!
DeletePretty color but sounds like the formula is a bit off over all.
ReplyDeleteThey do make lipstick sealer products that could help the color wear longer and with less transfer, but despite the many people that swear by a sealer I also read about people who are very sensitive to them and that they can be very drying.
So go figure. Just thought I'd throw that out there!

Yeah the formula isn't that great, which is too bad because it's a great shade at an affordable price.
DeleteWith my dry lips I just can't do sealers. My lips get so parched that it hurts! At least with the products I've tried so far, maybe there's something out there that would work without being drying but I haven't found it!
