The eye contour area is where the skin is the thinnest, the most fragile, and where fatigue or aging tends to show first. I've never really had puffy eyes, in fact I've had hollow under eye circles since my early 20s, and there isn't much that can be done for that without surgery. I've also had very dark circles since my teenage years, and slowly but surely, I noticed the skin in the area getting more dehydrated and showing fine lines. I've been offered to test OZ Natural Super Youth Eye Gel, and of course I'm always in to try something new!
The brand focuses on natural ingredients in their formulas, and the Super Youth Eye Gel is vegan, cruelty-free and made in the USA. It's also free of parabens, sulfates, alcohol and mineral oils. The ingredients that the brand puts forward as the most active in this eye gel are plant stem cells, the Matrixyl 3000 and a peptide complex (anti-aging), hyaluronic acid (moisturizing) and vitamin E (antioxidant). As far as I can tell, the list of ingredients looks pretty clean and contains a lot of vegetal extracts. Here's the full list:
Organic Aloe, Matrixyl 3000, Palmitoyl Triepeptide-3, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Plant Stem Cells, Cucumber Hydrosol, Organic Jojoba Oil, Botanical Hyaluronic Acid, MSM, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Carrageenan Gum, Silk Amino Acid Blend (Sodium L-Pyrrolidone Carboxylate, Sodium Lactate, LArginine, L-Aspartic Acid, L-Pyrrolidonecarboxylic Acid, Glycine, L-Alanine, L-Serine, L-Valine, L-Proline, L-threonine, L-Isoleucine, L-Histidine, L-Phenylalanine), Wildcrafted Periwinkle, Organic Licorice, Wildcrafted Eye Bright, Wildcrafted Reishi, Organic Gotu Kola, Frankincense, Vitamin E, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin.
Packaging is super important when using skincare with active and natural ingredients but not loaded with preservatives: products coming in jar packaging lose their efficacy fast because some ingredients degrade as soon as they come in contact with air. The Super Youth Eye Gel comes in an airtight container with a pump, which is the best possible form of packaging to keep the ingredients active. Mine is not opaque, so I keep it in a cabinet to protect the content from light, but I think the newest containers are now opaque.
The consistency is that of a thin gel that spreads in the eye area easily and has a fresh, pleasant feel. It has a mild cucumber scent, which doesn't come from fragrance but from the cucumber extract itself!
It is weightless and gets fully absorbed in a couple minutes. I like to use it as a serum for added anti-circles and hydration benefits, so I sometimes follow with a cream moisturizer or primer if I'm going to wear makeup. I have the feeling that it plumps and tightens the skin around my eyes, giving me a refreshed, healthier look. As for the dark circles, mine are so bad that it will probably be a while before I see a notable difference, but the fact that the skin looks firmer and healthier makes them a bit less noticeable!
Overall: this is a great eye gel if you like a weightless formula that refreshes your eye contour, containing good natural ingredients, at an affordable price ($19.95 on the brand's website).
