Maybelline Color Tattoo in Shady Shores: the cream shadow that wasn't there
Thursday, May 30, 2013
I have a love-hate relationship with Maybelline Color Tattoos. I so WANT to love these little pots of affordable cream shadow that I keep buying them, but I'm usually disappointed by the drier texture, difficulty blending and uneven coverage.
Well, Shady Shores, a limited edition shade part of the summer collection, is quite different from the original version: it's a lot slicker, it glides a lot more easily and blends well. Unfortunately, it's also a lot less pigmented and long-wearing than the permanent line.
It appears as a strong mustard yellow with shimmer in the pot (kind of scary). Once swatched, it looks more of a sheer medium yellow with a duochrome green sheen. On the lid it looks... like I'm wearing nothing. It kind of disappears, only leaving a faint greenish sheen which is not particularly flattering. I tried to build the intensity by adding layers, but it just doesn't work. On top of that, it faints within a few hours, leaving nothing behind!
Overall: Extremely weak pigment and mediocre wear make this shade of Color Tattoo just not worth buying.
Where to buy Maybelline Color Tattoos? At your local drugstore or here.
