A Sweet Treat from Too Faced

Like a box of chocolates, but better, cause the colors stay forever on your lids, never on your hips!

I just received Too Faced Shadow Bon Bons palette, that I bought on beauty.com with the 20% off Friends & Family discount (less than 48hrs between order placed and order received! <3). I wanted a bunch of neutrals for fall and winter, and since everybody seemed to agree on the quality of this palette, I chose it as the one and only holiday palette I will buy this year.

Too Faced holiday collection is inspired by a romantic vision of Paris and its douceurs shops, the most famous of which is Ladurée. I love macaroons and sweets and this Bon Bons palette really looks like a luxurious box of  treats from Ladurée, with its pastel mauve color, delicate velvety touch and golden embellishments. Talking about macaroons, I don't think Ladurée make the best out there, my favorites are from Bouillet, a pâtisserie and chocolate artist from Lyon, my hometown in France (you can see his website here. Risk of drooling is high).

A candle from Ladurée

Anyway, we're talking makeup today! I think this palette would make a wonderful gift for the holidays, because it's really pretty both outside and inside. It contains 12 yummy eyeshadows, a small Shadow Insurance primer in Candlelight, and a full-size Lashgasm mascara. The sun was playing hide and seek when I took the pictures, so they hardly translate the beauty and depth of the different shades.

You get:

- 3 matte shadows: Vanilla, a pale yellow ivory, Marzipan, a warm beige, and  Coffee Bean, a rich warm dark brown;
- 1 satin with very faint shimmer, Hot Cocoa, a warm medium brown with very subtle gold;
- 4 mattes sprinkled with sparkles : Cut the Cake, a pastel mauve with tiny gold shimmer (I'm actually having a hard time deciding if it's silver or gold...), Peach Fuzz, a peachy beige with gold sparkles, Candy Rose, a neutral Barbie pink with silver sparkles, and Licorice Latte, a stunning darker than dark brown with gold flecks;
- 3 bold shimmery shades : Framboise, a medium grey pruple, Cinnamon Sugar, a pretty caramel, and Lovey Dovey, a coppery chocolate brown;
- a pink champagne glitter, Nude Beach

So there's a nice variety of finishes in mostly neutral, warm and easy to wear shades. All the shadows had good color payoff (unlike the last palette released by Too Faced, the Return of Sexy) and felt easy to blend. The glitter in Nude Beach seemed prone to escape when applied, while the little sparkles in some other shades are also probably going to cause a bit of fall out. Using the primer that comes with the palette will reduce this problem, but be ready to wipe your cheek bones after you're done with your eye makeup. I always do my face after my eyes, so this is not really an issue for me.

I only had time to make a very quick nude eye look using Marzipan, Vanilla, Hot Cocoa and Coffee Bean, and it turned out very well.

Shade combination tips

I think these shades are flattering for most skin tones, and for $42 this set is a really good value. Overall, I really recommend this cute palette full of gorgeous, wearable, quality shadows!

Where to buy? This limited edition palette is now sold out, but you can check out Too Faced's latest makeup at Sephora or Macy's.

    1. Their cakes were coming from heaven... we had a bûche de noël from them, chesnut mousse in the middle and ribbons of chesnut cream on top! We took pictures of it and every time I look at them I want to lick my screen!!

      I think this palette is really worth a look if you go to Sephora. I think you'll like it!

  3. I saw this in Sephora yesterday but kinda overlooked it. Your post does a great job of breaking down all the colors-- now I want it! Such pretty browns and taupes. I love that it comes with the little worksheet to explain how to different eyes looks, those are always so helpful.
