Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Cream Shadow Pencil in Techno

As much as I love Wet n Wild and their affordable range of makeup goodies, I have to admitt that not everything they do is perfect. Idol Eyes Cream Shadow Pencil in Techno (133) is as far from perfect as shadow pencils can go...

I bought it because I loved this purple shade with a blue sheen, and I still think it looks pretty when swatched. The problems start when you try to apply it. It feels very slick and greasy. So yeah, it glides well... so well that it erases itself! You know UD 24/7 Glide On Shadow pencils, which are so dry that they're really difficult to blend? Well, this one is the exact opposite, it's so oily that it blends until it disappears. I tried blending the edges with my fingertips or brushes, but it's always the same issue: you carry all the product with you to an odd place, and you get a totally uneven lid with naked spots.

It doesn't get better with time, unfortunately, as the product doesn't seem to ever dry or set onto your skin... without a primer, the shadow creases within 5 minutes! It smudges and moves around and piles up into fine lines on your lids. Ew.
With a primer, it just takes a little longer to go wild, like half an hour, and it doesn't look quite as tragic, but it does still crease a lot.

After 5 minutes, no primer

Overall, I'd suggest you stay away from this shadow pencil! It only costs $1.99, but it's not even worth it. Mine will end up in the trash, and I hate throwing things away!

    1. It's cheap alright, but it's impossible to use, so it's still wasted money...

  3. OOh goodness that is a lot of creasing. I don't trust many eyeshadow pencils--I've just heard a lot of negative things about the wear for most of them. I did hear good things about the Milani ones and the MUFE ones though. I decided to go with the former to play around with first and if I like it, I can splurge on a MUFE. Fingers crossed!

    1. I haven't tried either, although I'm tempted by the Milani ones!
