Application was easy with the wide flat brush and fluid texture, but after one coat, I'd say the result was almost opaque. In my world, almost opaque = not opaque enough! So I had to apply a second coat for a perfectly flawless result. Unfortunately, this second coat seemed to defeat the fast drying properties: after the 1st coat, I felt that the polish was dry within a minute ; but after adding the 2nd coat, it just wouldn't dry, so I ended up applying a fast dry top coat (Sally Hansen).
Violet Dash is a medium violet creme that leans toward lavender, with a nice balance of blue and pink undertones. I looked for dupes in my stash, and found that Dior Forget-me-not is darker and much redder, while OPI Do you Lilac it? is very similar in color, but much lighter. I could wear it for 3 full days without chipping, which is above average for me.
Overall, I like this violet creme a lot, I'm just a little disappointed it's not really completely opaque in one coat. For $4.49, it's still a pretty good formula, and if using 2 coats and a top coat is fine with you, I'd recommend trying it out.
I really love that color!! Reminds me of the Illamasqua in Jo'mina I forgot I have :-) That Sally Hansen top coat you use - is it the one in the red bottle? Because that's the one I've been using for several years now...it works so well and is so shiny! I've been itching to try another top coat just for shucks, but can't quite pull myself away yet. Ha ha :-)

DeleteSuch a pretty colour - I love purple nail polishes. That's too bad about the fact it wasn't opaque in one coat and you had issues with drying time when you did a second one though!
ReplyDeleteI think this formula is really meant to be a one-coater. Maybe someone better than me at polish application could manage to make it work, but for me the opacity was not perfect enough!
