The first time I visited a Sephora store after moving to the US, I got all excited about the Double Contouring Cream Blushes by Sephora and their gorgeous colors! This product is not sold in France, and I can't think of a single good reason for them to deprive French beauties of this... I mean, they have their own makeup range, why sell almost everything else, but not this particular cream blush?? It doesn't make any sense.

Anyway, I ignored its existence until I saw it in the store, and I think my heart skipped a beat... Most of the shades are litterally stunning and swatch extremely well, but as a good girl, I knew I should choose only one. It was hard, but I decided to go out of my peach/coral comfort zone and opted for Golden Spice, a beautiful pinky brown with fine golden shimmer

The guy/gal who invented the little compact with the rubber bottom should win an award, cause it's really awesome! All you need to do is pinch on both sides, on the spaces made for your fingers, and it just pops open. As a clumsy person who broke her nails a lot trying to open stupid pans (hello, Wet n Wild...), I have to say thank you!

Inside, the blush comes in a half sphere that looks almost matte. Indeed, the golden shimmer only becomes visible once you start rubbing the surface. The texture isn't really creamy, it feels more like a cream-powder, very similar to Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tints. I suggest applying it with your fingertips, because you'll have a hard time trying to get any product on your brushes, even with a dual fiber one. With your fingers however, applying it is very easy, it's very pigmented and blends out beautifully.

It doesn't leave your cheeks feeling greasy or sticky, it's very light-weight and dries to a slightly powder finish. Golden Spice is a pretty and easy-to-wear shade, looking fairly natural due to its toned-down pink hue, and it is pigmented enough to work both on fairer and darker skin tones. The only problem I have with it is that the golden shimmer, which highlights my cheekbones nicely, also tends to emphasize the pores. It stays on about 8 hours on me, which is a very good performance.

Overall, I recommend Golden Spice, and I think it's a good value for $14. I definitely plan on getting this cream blush in other shades!

  1. The texture sounds really interesting! The colour looks really natural and pretty on you :)

    1. I applied it with a very light hand and blended it out well, but it can be applied a lot less sheer ;)

  2. Yes it's very pretty! Most of the shades in this range are really gorgeous, especially the apricot and coral ones.
