The brand's official description of these blushes says that they're supposed to be sheer and to bring a veil of pearl color to your cheeks, and well, that's precisely what Solar Ray does. It's not intensely pigmented, but it leaves a hint of warm peach and illuminates your cheeckbones with its soft sheen, more like a highlighter than a blush. It looks as if a ray of evening sun, when the light is warm and soft as the sun gets lower on the horizon, is making your cheeks glow. It's really lovely on a light skin tone, but very hard to capture on camera, so my pictures don't do it justice. Most of the sparkles get lost in the brush bristles, but I think that's for the best.
Unfortunately, Solar Ray is excessively powdery. Little grains of powder and sparkles start flying all over the place as soon as you touch the surface with your brush, and it gets worse since you have to insist due to the stiffness of the mineralize blush texture. My bathroom countertop is litterally covered with a thin layer of peach powder every time I use it! This is of course VERY frustrating.
Another downside with this blush is that it doesn't stay on very long. Within a few hours, sparkles have migrated here and there, and it's mostly gone by the end of the day. I tried to wear it as an eyeshadow, and it also creased terribly and very fast.
I thought it might look very similar to Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Apricot, but it ends up being very different: it's warmer, not as shimmery, more subdued.
Overall, I think it's a product you might want to try in the store before you decide to buy it or not. Its texture and wear time are below average, so you really have to be in love with the way it looks on your face, otherwise it may not be worth it.
